The primary methodology applied at Athens Biomechanics is Functional Patterns, which is regarded worldwide as one of the most effective approaches for addressing musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
The Functional Patterns method was founded in 2006 by CEO Naudi Aguilar. It is a training system focused on human biomechanics and the development of movement patterns associated with fundamental human functions.
The approach is organized around four foundational movements:
1. Standing
The body’s ability to organize itself efficiently against gravity forms the foundation upon which more dynamic movement patterns are developed.
2. Walking
Walking requires coordinated weight transfer, alternating limb movement, and rotation throughout the entire body.
3. Running
As speed and the forces placed on the body increase, so do the demands for coordination, stability, and efficient force production.
4. Throwing
Throwing requires force to be transferred through the entire body and represents one of the most complex examples of human rotational movement.
These four functions form the FP First Four: Standing, Walking, Running & Throwing.
